
This is a piece I did for the Native show at Emily Carr.
The names written on my body are actual names for “sexy indian” costumes that can be bought online.
This piece is a visual response to when Halloween comes around again, and people feel it right to dress up as my culture in horrible old stereotypes and pass it as honouring our culture. But it doesn’t. It only adds to more to poorly represented image of Native Americans, and objectifies Native women.I am a real Native Women and this my body and my culture. And I have a voice
